Making Progress

First, let me say that I weigh 228 pounds. My ideal body weight is probably about 185-190.

So my progress might not be your progress. You may find it easier, you may find it harder. But I’m still excited about my progress.

So today, after realizing that each lap is only 1/8 of a mile, I had decided to run 8 laps. I ran at a good but reasonable pace. I wanted to make sure I could get the distance in, regardless of the speed. So I got the 8. So I decided to do a 9th to stretch myself a little. Then a 10th. Then an 11th. So I thought go to a mile and a half. Then I thought let’s see how far I can do it. So I got to 18, and thought how about 19. Then at 20 I’m like, Hey, only 5 more laps to have run the whole distance!

If I had to estimate, I’d say I was running a 11-12 minute mile pace.

I didn’t wear a wristwatch, which I’ll have for next time. But based on the clock when I started, I ran this in 34-35 minutes.

I’ll know better next time the actual numbers.

I think if I can keep myself from stopping, and if I can keep running this distance, then I can get faster at this distance, and also have it take less out of me. Then I can do it for 4 miles, then 5, etc.

Slowly but slowly. Oh but surely. Exciting stuff.
