Disneyland Half Marathon Training Update

Today I decided I had to run in longer blocks to start building endurance. I ran .75 miles (three laps) at 6.5mph (9.13 pace). At the end, I couldn’t keep going. But maybe before too long I can do a mile, then a 1.25…

Overall I was able to do the 3.1 miles in 38 minutes even.

But I as really pushing it.

Running isn’t that fun. I don’t run for fun. Running sucks. It’s because it sucks that it has value to me. If it wasn’t a challenge, then why do it at all?

My shins hurt when I started running today, but it went away. Then it wasn’t my shins it was my lungs. But the more I keep this up, my body will be getting stroner and I should really improve how I do.

Lela sent off my registration to the Lehi 5k. My goal is to run the whole 5k, with no walking. I hope I can get to that point. I have 5 weeks. I don’t know if it’s possible or not.

Maybe that’s a good thing!

Then I have to get to where I can run the equivalent of 4 back to back 5k runs. Galloway’s book advocates walking a minute or two every 4-5 minutes of running. I wouldn’t feel bad if I did that during the half marathon.
